Recycling

The following items cannot be recycled:

• Food items
• Containers with residue left behind by food items-these must be rinsed clean

Composting

Only food waste is compostable. No dishware/utensils that say they're compostable are actually accepted by Cambridge processing.

We have an external building compost bin in the loading dock on the side of the building. You can reach it by entering the waste disposal hallway right across from room 129 and taking the door to outside (the alarm might sound but it's ok). The bin is green.

There are special compostable bags that you need to use for the food waste (provided by Edgerton for free); contact the Edgerton environmental chair at eha-environment@mit.edu for more information.
